No project is too small or too large for Gary, who draws inspiration from fashion magazines, color trends, fine art and décor, to plan an event that is classy, stylish and all about you. Prepare to become Gary’s BFF, as you will be his greatest inspiration when planning your special day. Gary is a stickler for detail (and has a great sense of humor too), so expect to be amazed. Gary started floral design in 1969 in central New York. Gary holds degrees in Education and Horticulture from Cornell University.
Laurie started working at her mother’s floral shop in 1982. She graduated from SUNY Cobleskill with a degree in Floriculture. Laurie has worked in the industry for about 25 years, on both the wholesale and retail side. Like Gary, she really understands the importance of using fresh materials and how to preserve and prepare them. Gary and Laurie complement each other in their design aesthetics. She enjoys designing with feminine colors and textures. He loves anything bold and new. Together, they make a great team and can design anything.
Nick Bakes has had a long and active career in visual merchandise design, most recently for Bloomingdales and for a floral shop in New Haven. He does the window displays at the new Gary’Z of Stamford studio and works on floral arrangements for Gary.
Corrine has been involved with horticulture since 1987. While putting herself through college, majoring in TV broadcasting, she worked for a horticulture distribution wholesaler. She fell in love with horticulture instead and trained herself through experience and the school of hard knocks. Corrine started her own landscaping business in 2000, working out of a hatchback with a shovel, rake, pruners and a wheelbarrow. The firm, Corrine’s Garden Creations, now does landscape design, installation, maintenance of foundation material and planting perennials and annuals. Gary and his team are always happy when the seasons change because it means Corrine is back on duty at Gary’Z of Stamford to lend a daily hand. She is a delight and all our standing order clients love her.
Kim Maloney has worked for McArdles in Greenwich for many years as a floral designer. She is now part of the Development team for Sacred Heart School in Stamford and keeps her hand in the art of floral design by doing freelance work for Gary.
Anselmo Ramos -aka “Chino”
What a guy! There really isn’t anything he can’t do. After many years in the floral industry, and the New York City floral market, Chino now leads most of the Gary’Z installation teams. There is no installation challenge he can’t solve!
